Niven Govinden’s short story ‘Marseille Tip’ has made it to the 2011 Bristol Short Story Prize shortlist.
Born in East Sussex, Govinden is the author of two novels, We Are The New Romantics (2004) and Graffiti My Soul (2007), and spoke at the DSC South Asian Literature Festival 2010.
For the past three years the Bristol Short Story Prize has hosted a competition to find 20 short stories to publish in their annual short story anthologies.
The 2010 short story prize was won by Valerie O’Riordan with ‘Mum’s the Word’, which is published among others in the 2010 Bristol Short Story Prize Anthology.
The Bristol Short Story Prize has narrowed its competitors down to 20 writers, from over 2000 initial entries. The winner will be announced on Saturday July 16th at the awards ceremony in Bristol, at the Arnolfini arts centre.
All shortlisted authors will be published in the Bristol Short Story Prize Anthology Volume 4, and the overall winner is set to receive a prize of £1,000.
