Amandeep Singh Madra
Amandeep Singh Madra is an independent researcher based in London. He has co-authored Warrior Saints: Three Centuries of the Sikh Military Tradition (1999). This was followed by another collaborative work Sicques, Tigers, or Thieves: Eyewitness Accounts of the Sikhs (1606-1809) (2004). Amandeep has also contributed articles to the New Dictionary of National Biography (OUP, 2004). In conjunction with the exhibition at SOAS, University of London, of the same name, Amandeep has co-edited The Golden Temple of Amritsar: Reflections of the Past (1808 – 1959) (2011).
Amandeep has lectured extensively in the UK and USA on Sikh arts and heritage as well as issues of sustaining Sikh audiences. He co-founded the UK Punjab Heritage Association (UKPHA), a non-profit voluntary organisation based in Greater London with the aim to foster the appreciation of the Punjabi heritage in Britain.
