Sunand Prasad

Sunand Prasad is senior partner of London based architectural practice Penoyre & Prasad LLP, whose work has been widely published and won many awards. He was President of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) from 2007 to 2009, promoting the value of design, advocating vigorous action on climate change and rethinking professionalism. He came to the UK with his family in 1962 when his father Devi Prasad took up the post of Secretary General of War Resisters International.

Sunand was one of the founding Commissioners of the UK Government’s Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE), launched its highly regarded Enabling Programme and later led its work on Skills. He is a trustee of the Think Tank Centre for Cities; of the disaster relief and development charity Article 25; and of the arts organization Cape Farewell, which seeks out and promotes cultural responses to climate change.

Sunand broadcasts and writes regularly on architecture, culture, sustainability and cities. He collaborated in producing a number of his father’s books and contributed to Naman Ahuja’s The making of a Modern Indian Artist Craftsman.
