India is home to one of the most diverse and dynamic media systems in the world, and is increasingly playing an integral role in the global media sphere; TheIndia Media Centre, based at the University of Westminster, is the world’s first research and knowledge transfer centre dedicated to the study of that media. From cutting-edge research to international consultancy and training development, the Centre provides high-quality services to a wide range of government, industrial, NGO and cultural bodies. It also raises the academic profile of Indian media, builds international links and partnerships, and disseminates information through conferences, events and publications. The University of Westminster – which pioneered Media Studies in the UK – has an international reputation in the research and teaching of Arts and Media and hosts the top media research department in the UK, according to RAE 2008.
